A Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-88, registration N963DL performing flight DL-2395 from New York La Guardia,NY to West Palm Beach,FL (USA), was climbing through 8000 feet when the crew reported they had zero engine oil pressure and quantity indications for the left hand engine (JT8D) and declared emergency advising the engine was still running. The aircraft diverted to New York's JFK airport, while descending the crew reported the left hand engine had just failed and was shut down. The aircraft landed safely on JFK's runway 31L about 9 minutes after the crew reported the loss of engine oil indications.

A replacement MD-88 registration N915DL reached West Palm Beach with a delay of 3 hours.
