A United Boeing 777-200, registration N77014 performing flight UA-87 from Shanghai (China) to Newark,NJ (USA), was enroute over the Pacific Ocean about 300nm south of the Aleutian Islands,AK (USA), about 2300nm from Seattle,WA and 1600nm from Anchorage,AK (USA) when the aircraft changed its north-easterly heading to an easterly heading. The aircraft subsequently diverted to Seattle,WA (USA) for a safe landing on runway 16L, however, without reporting on any of the usual Seattle Center, Approach, Tower or Ground frequencies. The aircraft stopped at the end of runway 16L, emergency services responded.

A passenger reported flight attendants told them the "main pilot" had become "very sick".

The FAA upon initial contact on Friday, Jun 28th, told The Aviation Herald, they had nothing on this occurrence yet but would follow up after finding out about the diversion, later only referred to the airline, who did not respond to The Aviation Herald.

The aircraft was able to continue the flight after 90 minutes on the ground and reached Newark with a delay of 100 minutes.
