A Condor Boeing 767-300, registration D-ABUZ performing flight DE-1157 (dep Jun 24th) from Cancun (Mexico) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 265 passengers and 10 crew, was on approach to Frankfurt's runway 25L when the crew went around, repositioned for a low approach to runway 25L about 10 minutes later, then positioned for a landing on runway 25L. The aircraft landed safely on runway 25L about 25 minutes after aborting the first approach.

A passenger reported that the crew extended and retracted the gear three times prior to the go around. Following the go around the crew announced they had needed to go around due to another aircraft not vacating the runway quickly enough. The aircraft positioned for a low approach, emergency services were already lined up along the runway at that point, and on the third approach landed safely with emergency services approaching the aircraft, the aircraft taxied to the gate with emergency services following the aircraft. The crew at that point told passengers with respect to what had happened only: "no comment".

On Jul 1st the airline told The Aviation Herald, that the first approach to runway 25L was aborted due to stable approach criteria not being met. The crew announced, they were concentrated on flying the aircraft and would follow up later with an explanation. While positioning for the second approach the left main gear did not indicate safe prompting the crew to continue for a low approach to verify the gear position, then the aircraft proceeded for a safe landing on third approach. The diversion to Lajes on the following flight was unrelated to the gear indication problem, that was dealt with and solved on the ground in Frankfurt.

Radar data suggest the previous arrival landed 2 minutes ahead of D-ABUZ and departed normally again, there were no departures from runway 25L.

The incident aircraft was able to depart for the next flight DE-2078 after about two hours on the ground, but needed to divert to Lajes, see Incident: Condor B763 over Atlantic on Jun 25th 2013, electrical problems.
