A US Airways Boeing 737-400, flight US-1940 from Houston,TX (USA) to Charlotte,NC (USA) with 122 passengers, was descending towards Charlotte when the left hand engine emitted lots of noise and caused vibrations of the airframe prompting the crew to shut the engine down. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Charlotte's runway 18C, the aircraft turned around to backtrack off the runway and taxied to the gate with emergency services in trail.
