A Jetstar Airbus A321-200, registration VH-VWW performing flight JQ-947 from Cairns,QL to Melbourne,VI (Australia), was climbing out of Cairns' runway 33 when the crew reported a bird strike into the left hand engine, they wanted to return as a precaution, no assistance was needed. The aircraft levelled off at 2000 feet and positioned for an approach to runway 33, but need to go around on short final due to strong cross wind. The aircraft flew another right hand circuit and landed safely on runway 33 30 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the engine sound changed shortly after takeoff and some haze appeared in the cabin, which was described as humidity by flight attendants.
