A Lufthansa Cityline Canadair CRJ-700, registration D-ACPB performing flight LH-1363 from Katowice (Poland) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 63 passengers and 4 crew, was climbing out of Katowice when the crew needed to shut the right hand engine (CF34) down and returned the aircraft to Katowice for a safe landing about 25 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

On May 22nd the airline reported the engine had received damage due to the ingestion of some hard foreign object in Katowice. The foreign object could not be identified.
