A Caribbean Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration 9Y-JMD performing flight BW-524 from Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago) to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 157 passengers and 6 crew, was about to intercept the ILS for runway 31L at 2000 feet when the crew requested delay vectors due to a flaps problem. About 10 minutes later the crew advised they were ready for the approach to runway 31L, it would be a high speed landing, Vref would be 184 knots. ATC advised they needed some time to get emergency services lined up and have the aircraft rejoin landing sequence for runway 31L. The aircraft landed safely on runway 31L at a higher than normal speed about 10 minutes later, vacated the runway and taxied to the apron.
