An Air New Zealand Boing 777-200, registration ZK-OKC performing flight NZ-84 from Auckland (New Zealand) to Vancouver,BC (Canada), was about to reach to top of descent towards Vancouver when the crew received a low engine oil pressure warning for the left hand engine (Trent 892) and a zero oil pressure indication for the left hand engine. The crew shut the engine down, advised they were on single engine but did not need assistance, tower nonetheless initiated a full emergency response. The aircraft landed safely on runway 08L about 20 minutes after the engine was shut down.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found the left engine's oil pump seized. The oil pump and pressure filter housing were replaced and the engine ground run with no further findings. The oil pump, that had accumulated 13,355 hours in 1,679 cycles in service, is being sent to Rolls Royce for further analysis.
