A Skywest Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N781CA performing flight OO-4828/DL-4828 from Minneapolis,MN to Grand Forks,ND (USA), was climbing out of Minneapolis when the crew stopped the climb at FL230 reporting a generator had failed and requested to return to Minneapolis, no assistance was required. The aircraft landed safely back on Minneapolis' runway 30R about 40 minutes after departure and taxied to the apron.

The aircraft was able to depart again after about 30 minutes on the ground and reached Grand Forks with a delay of 90 minutes.

A passenger reported the crew announced a generator had failed, the third generator had been activated, however, as there was no possibility to repair the generator in Grand Forks they were returning to Minneapolis to have the generator checked by maintenance. The aircraft was able to depart again for Grand Forks.
