A RAK Airways Airbus A320-200, registration A6-RKC performing flight RT-314 from Cairo (Egypt) to Ras Al Khaimah (United Arab Emirates) with 146 people on board, was enroute near Tabuk (Saudi Arabia) when the crew received a left hand engine (CFM56) fire indication, shut the engine down, activated the fire suppression system and diverted to Tabuk for a safe landing. Attending emergency services found no evidence of an engine fire.

The airline confirmed the aircraft diverted to Tabuk after an onboard emergency was declared. The engine was examined, no evidence of fire or damage was discovered. The aircraft was able to return to the United Arab Emirates the following day and resumed service.
