A United Boeing 757-200, registration N14121 performing flight UA-26 (dep Mar 29th) from Newark,NJ (USA) to Birmingham,EN (UK), was enroute at FL370 about 680nm east of St. John's,NL (Canada) when the crew observed the right hand engine's (RB211) pressure ratio (EPR) had dropped to 1.45 uncommandedly and the engine was unresponsive to throttle inputs. The crew declared emergency and decided to divert to St. John's. The engine was throttled back to idle, the crew consulted with dispatch and due to weather at St. John's it was decided to divert to Goose Bay,NL (Canada) where the aircraft landed safely about 2:10 hours later.

The Canadian TSB reported the crew reviewed the single engine inoperative landing checklist since the right hand engine was then operating at idle producing minimal thrust. After landing maintenance replaced the right engine's fuel governor and released the aircraft back to service after appropriate ground runs.
