A Skywest Canadair CRJ-700 on behalf of United, registration N715SK performing flight OO-6269/UA-6269 from Calgary,AB (Canada) to San Francisco,CA (USA), was in the initial climb out of Calgary's runway 16 when the right hand engine (CF34) ingested a bird prompting the crew to shut the engine down and return to Calgary for a safe landing about 15 minutes after departure.

On Mar 26th the Canadian TSB reported, that the right hand engine reached vibration levels of 9.9 units prompting the shut down of the engine. A post flight inspection showed fan blade damage with a number of blade tips missing. Damage on the engine cowl suggests the blade tips exited through the top cowl, there was no damage to the fuselage.
