The airline reported the aircraft operated by SEARCA carrying 13 passengers and 2 crew lost contact with Air Traffic Control at 11:54L. The ELT had not activated.
The city of Ocana is surrounded by mountains rising up to 2600 meters MSL (8500 feet MSL).
No METARs are available for Ocana (SKOC). The Ocana local weather station reported at 12:00L, the temperature was 26 degrees C, dew point 19 degrees C, easterly winds at 5 knots, 978hPa ambient pressure and patches of fog.
Aerocivil released their preliminary report in Spanish only stating that the aircraft was descending towards Ocana about 15nm from the airport when the crew reported their position and were handed off to the "auto announcement" frequency of the airport. This was the last recorded ATC communication.
Subsequently the last radar position was recorded at N08°12'17.40" W073°11'38.71" at 16:55:48Z at 6500 feet MSL and 234 TAS. The last FDR position was at 6298 feet MSL, the left hand engine showed a torque of 1794.2 ft/lb at 1245.9 RPM, the right hand engine 1203.7 ft/lb at 1420.2 RPM, a negative pitch of 7.7 degrees and a vertical acceleration of +1.071G. No further information was recorded on the FDR.
The aircraft collided with terrain at position N08°12'20.6" W073°11'50.2" at an elevation of 6820 feet MSL, the wreckage came to rest at position N08°12'20.7" W073°11'54.0" at an elevation of 6881 feet MSL above the initial point of impact.
Aerocovil reported that the right hand power plant as well as the right hand structural part of the landing gear was not found at the crash site making it likely evidence was looted.
Fragmented low cloud cover was observed predominantly attributable to orographic formation, no convective storm structures were near the accident site.
