The airline reported:
Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-298 experienced a minor runway excursion after landing at Mekelle Alula Abanega Airport from Addis Ababa today. The aircraft was landing in heavy rain.
To date, no passengers were injured and were safely disembarked. Two crew members sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby medical facility for further medical attention. After treatment, they were transferred to a hotel.
Passengers reported the aircraft was on its third approach after going around two times and continued for landing, but then veered left off the runway and came to a stop about 50 meters off the runway. The aircraft received damage to its left wing.
