An Airblue Airbus A320-200, registration AP-EDG performing flight PA-481 from Lahore to Skardu (Pakistan) with 149 people on board, was climbing out of Lahore's runway 16R when the crew stopped the climb at about 3500 feet following a bird strike into the right hand engine (CFM56) and returned to Lahore for a safe landing on runway 16R about 12 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Lahore 27 hours after landing back.

The airline reported a bird strike during takeoff damaging two fan blades of the right hand engine. The rotation was cancelled.

On Jul 18th 2025 Pakistan's AIB reported the crew reported a flock of birds at about 100 feet AGL and announced a bird strike, immediately followed by a roar of the right hand engine and vibration indications for the right hand engine. Post flight inspection revealed evidence of bird strikes on the leading edge of the left wing and left main gear, however, no evidence of a bird strike into either engine. Nonetheless, 28 of 36 fan blades of the right hand engine were damaged or broken. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated.
