A US Airways Boeing 737-400, flight US-1220 from Miami,FL to Charlotte,NC (USA), enroute at FL310 about 7nm south of Orlando,FL (USA) when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure reaching 10,000 feet about 6 minutes later (average rate of descent 3500 fpm). The aircraft diverted to Orlando for a safe landing on runway 36R about 17 minutes after leaving FL310.

A passenger reported the passenger oxygen masks were not released, flight attendants however were instructed to use their oxygen bottles.
