A United Airbus A320-200, registration N4901U performing flight UA-1152 from San Francisco,CA to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), was climbing out of San Francisco's runway 01R on the TRUKN 2 standard instrument departure when the aircraft turned left during initial climb veering into the departure of runway 01L (instead of turning right as per SID TRUKN).

A Skywest Canadair CRJ-200 on behalf of United, registration N246PS performing flight UA-5273 from San Francisco,CA to Fresno,CA (USA), was cleared for takeoff from runway 01L at about the same time and was in the initial climb, when the crew told ATC they were maneouvering due to traffic.

According to ADS-B data the separation between the two aircraft reduced to about 300 feet vertical and less than 0.24nm horizontal.

After the call by Skywest ATC instructed the Skywest to turn left onto heading 350, United to turn onto runway heading, asked how UA-1152 managed to get there, repeated the instruction to turn onto runway heading which again reduced separation between the aircraft before ATC finally recognized the situation in full and instructed the United to turn left to 280 immediately. Subsequently the aircraft settled on diverging flight pathes and continued to their destinations without further incident.

According to preliminary information UA-1152 had prepared for the TRUKN 2 departure from runway 28R sending the aircraft onto an initial heading of 284 degrees and had not adjusted for the departure from runway 01R.
