An Alitalia Airbus A320-200, registration I-BIKO performing flight XM-5293/AZ-5293 from Milan Linate to Catania (Italy) with 168 people on board, was climbing through FL100 out of Milan when the crew detected the cabin did not properly pressurize, aborted the climb and returned to Milan Linate for a safe landing on runway 36 about 15 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration EI-EIE reached Catania with a delay of about 2 hours.
