A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration AP-BGY performing flight PK-783 from Karachi (Pakistan) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 314 people on board, had reported a gear indication on departure from Karachi and entered a hold to troubleshoot the issue. After resolving the issue the crew decided to continue the flight. The aircraft subsequently was enroute at FL340 over the North Sea about 200nm east of Manchester,EN (UK) when the crew requested to enter a hold due to a gear door indication. The aircraft followed a number of delay vectors at FL340 over the North Sea before the crew decided to divert to Manchester about 30 minutes later. The aircraft subsequently descended towards Manchester and landed safely on runway 05L about one hour after the crew discontinued the enroute flight. The aircraft vacated the runway and stopped briefly on the adjacent taxiway advising emergency services they should have a look at the right main landing gear for any anomaly, after the fire crews reported that nothing was seen the aircraft taxied to the apron.

The airline currently estimates the aircraft is going to reach Toronto with a delay of 5 hours (however, it is already 150 minutes past the estimated departure time from Manchester and the aircraft is not yet airborne again).
