A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration TC-JNI performing flight TK-711 from Islamabad (Pakistan) to Istanbul (Turkey), was on final approach to Istanbul's runway 35R when the right hand wing struck the runway surface. The crew initiated a go around, climbed to 4000 feet and positioned for another approach to runway 34L, where the aircraft landed without further incident about 17 minutes after going around.

Turkey's AIB reported the aircraft suffered a right wing strike during landing, the aircraft sustained minor damage, the occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Istanbul on Jan 12th 2025, 17 days later.

According to ADS-B data the aircraft was aligned with the runway center line until second fixed distance marker when the aircraft suddenly veered to the right and began to climb again, in the climb the aircraft went about 45 meters/150 feet beyond the right hand edge of runway before returning onto a runway heading.

According to information The Aviation Herald received a bank angle of 15 degrees to the right when the wing contacted the runway surface.
