A China Southern Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration B-6786 performing flight CZ-3624 from Harbin to Guangzhou (China), was climbing out of Harbin when the left hand engine (V2527) dropped part of its cowling. The crew decided to return to Harbin, burned off fuel and landed safely 2 hours after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration B-6766 reached Guangzhou with a delay of 3 hours.

The airport reported the engine cowling parts have not yet been found.
