A Sichuan Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration B-6719 performing flight 3U-8925 from Chengdu to Xiamen (China), was enroute at 10700 meters/FL351 about 40nm south of Guilin (China) when a power bank carried by a passenger began to emit smoke prompting the crew to divert to Guilin, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 19 about 30 minutes after leaving 10700 meters.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 100 minutes, then continued the journey and reached Xiamen with a delay of about 2 hours.

The airline reported a passenger's power bank emitted smoke and released information about how to carry power banks.
