A KLM Cityhopper Embraer ERJ-192-E2, registration PH-NXM performing flight KL-1753 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Hamburg (Germany), was accelerating for takeoff from Amsterdam's runway 36L when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed. The aircraft slowed safely and stopped on the runway about 1540 meters/5050 feet down the runway. The crew advised they had a brakes overtemperature. About 10 minutes after the rejected takeoff the aircraft vacated the runway and returned to the apron.

The rotation was cancelled.

A passenger reported the captain explained a large flock of birds was ahead, they would certainly have collided with the flock if they had continued takeoff. The brakes were too hot so they needed to return to the apron for assessment. The flight was subsequently cancelled and they were rebooked.
