A Vueling Airbus A320-200, registration EC-MBS performing flight VY-2014 from Barcelona,SP to Granada,SP (Spain) with 168 passengers and 6 crew, was accelerating on Barcelona's runway 24L when the crew rejected takeoff at about 100 KIAS due to the failure of the right hand engine (V2527). The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.

Spain's CIAIAC rated the occurrence an incident and opened an investigation reporting moments after exceeding 100 KIAS the crew "heard an explosion of undetermined but nearby origin followed by an immediate loss of power in engine number 2. The captain decided to abort the takeoff at that moment." Later the CIAIAC added that the right hand engine suffered significant damage.

A replacement A320-200 registration EC-OFV reached Granada with a delay of about 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service on Nov 22nd 2024.
