A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-EBD performing flight FR-10 from Dublin (Ireland) to Madrid,SP (Spain), was enroute at FL370 over the Celtic Sea about 150nm southsouthwest of Dublin when the crew initiated an a rapid descent to 9000 feet, the passenger oxygen masks deployed. The aircraft returned to Dublin for a safe landing on runway 28L about 100 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-8 MAX registration EI-IGV reached Madrid with a delay of about 2:45 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 6 hours after landing.

The airline reported the crew returned the aircraft due to a pressurization system issue, performed a controlled descent and released the passenger oxygen masks.
