A Tame Airbus A320-200, flight EQ-172 from Cuenca to Quito (Ecuador) with 154 people on board, suffered a hydraulic leak while retracting the gear. The crew decided to divert to Guayaquil 70nm northwest of Cuenca, where the aircraft landed safely. The aircraft stopped on the runway, was shut down and was towed to the apron. The runway was closed for about 30 minutes until the aircraft had been towed off the runway and the spilled hydraulic fluid had been cleaned from the runway.
