A Delta Airlines Airbus A350-900, registration N503DN performing flight DL-295 from Atlanta,GA (USA) to Tokyo Haneda (Japan) with 221 people on board, was following the CRJ-900 along taxiway E when the crew reported a problem that they needed to investigate and requested to stop somewhere out of the way. Ground instructed them to carry on on taxiway E and hold short of V. Shortly afterwards the crew reported they had hit something. Another voice on the radio reported the whole tail of the CRJ had been knocked over.

The CRJ sustained substantial damage, the A350 sustained damage to their right hand wing.

The FAA reported: "While Delta Air Lines Flight 295 was taxiing for departure at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, its wingtip struck the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526. The Delta Airbus A350 was headed to Tokyo. The Endeavor Bombardier CRJ900 was headed to Lafayette, Louisiana. The FAA will investigate the incident, which occurred at the intersection of two taxiways around 10:10 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Sept. 10."
