A Lufthansa Airbus A350-900, registration D-AIXG performing flight LH-714 from Munich (Germany) to Tokyo Haneda (Japan) with 292 people on board, was enroute at FL370 over the Caspian Sea about 60nm south of Aktau (Kazakhstan) when the crew decided to return to Munich due to hydraulic problems. The aircraft climbed to FL380 for the return and landed safely back in Munich about 4:20 hours later.

The airline reported a "classic" irregularity with a hydraulic indicator. The passenger were rebooked onto the next day.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Munich about 40 hours after landing.
