The remainder of the flight was cancelled. The aircraft is still on the ground in New York about 9 hours after landing.
The FAA reported: "Delta Air Lines Flight 136 landed safely at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York around 4 a.m. local time on Wednesday July 3, after the crew reported several sick passengers on board. The Airbus A330 departed Detroit Metropolitan Airport and was headed to Amsterdam, Netherlands."
The airline reported the passengers were served "spoiled food", it was unclear how many actually ate the food. The aircraft diverted to New York after there were reports that a portion of the inflight meal service in the main cabin was spoiled. This is not the service Delta is known for and apologized, the airline added.
