An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 787-8, registration JA808A performing flight NH-853 from Tokyo Haneda (Japan) to Taipei (Taiwan), was enroute at FL400 about 300nm northeast of Taipei and about 800nm southwest of Tokyo when the crew decided to return to Tokyo Haneda after a number of their LCD displays no longer worked properly. The aircraft climbed to FL410 on the way back and landed safely back at Tokyo's Haneda Airport about 2:20 hours after the decision to turn around.

Japan's Ministry of Transport reported the aircraft returned to Haneda after a number of LCD displays no longer functioned normally.

A replacement Boeing 787-8 registration JA831A reached Taipei with a delay of about 6 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 16.5 hours after landing back.
