The aircraft was towed to the apron, where passengers disembarked normally.
A replacement A320-200 registration N459UA reached Seattle with a delay of about 5.5 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Chicago about 17.5 hours after the rejected takeoff.
The airline reported takeoff was halted due to an engine issue, the aircraft was subsequently towed to the gate and passengers disembarked.
On May 28th 2024 the FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT ON DEPARTURE ROLL, BLACK SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE #1 ENGINE, THE CREW EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, CHICAGO, IL."
