A Scoot Boeing 787-9, registration 9V-OJD performing flight TR-280 from Singapore (Singapore) to Denpasar (Indonesia), was climbing out of Singapore when the crew stopped the climb at FL130 reporting the smell of smoke on board. The aircraft returned to Singapore for a safe landing on runway 02C about 25 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported about 5 minutes after takeoff smoke became visible in the cabin and a strong odour of burning was observed.

A replacement Boeing 787-8 registration 9V-OFK reached Denpasar with a delay of about 5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 8 hours.
