An Avianca Airbus A320-200, registration N230AC performing flight AV-8545 from Barranquilla to Medellin (Colombia), was climbing out of Barranquilla's runway 05 when the crew stopped the climb at 2000 feet after the right hand engine (CFM56) suffered repeated surges. The aircraft landed safely back on runway 05 about 15 minutes after departure.
