An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N935AN performing flight AA-1472 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Houston Intercontinental,TX (USA), was on final approach to Houston's runway 08L when the crew initiated a go around advising their flaps did not fully extend. The aircraft positioned for a second approach to runway 08L, the crew however aborted the approach early and entered a hold while considering their options. The aircraft subsequently climbed to 15,000 feet to divert to Lake Charles,LA (USA) where the aircraft landed safely on runway 15 about 50 minutes after aborting the first approach to Houston.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N922NN reached Houston with a delay of about 7.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 19 hours, then positioned back to Dallas Ft. Worth and resumed service.
