A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8319F performing flight WN-3182 from Sacramento,CA to Long Beach,CA (USA), was climbing out of Sacramento's runway 35L when the crew stopped the climb at about 4000 feet after receiving a bird strike. The aircraft returned to Sacramento for a safe landing on runway 35L about 30 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-8 MAX registration N8806Q reached Long Beach with a delay of about 4 hours.

A passenger reported that shortly after becoming airborne there was a flash and a bang. Subsequently the crew announced there had been a bird strike.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 24 hours before returning to service.
