A Plus Ultra Lineas Aereas Airbus A340-300 on behalf of Cubana de Aviacion, registration EC-MQM performing flight CU-471 from Madrid,SP (Spain) to Santiago (Cuba), was enroute at FL340 over the Atlantic Ocean about 320nm west of Lisbon (Portugal) when the crew decided to turn around and return to Madrid reporting a problem with one of their engines (CFM56). The aircraft landed safely back on Madrid's runway 18R about 3.5 hours after departure.

The aircraft returned to service performing flight CU-471 about 22 hours after landing back in Madrid.
