A replacement Airbus A321-200 registration D-AISP reached Riga with a delay of about 4:45 hours.
The airline reported the cause of the engine failure is being investigated.
A passenger reported there was a bang from the right hand side shortly after takeoff, the aircraft shook. A metallic clicking sound occurred. Some time later the crew announced they had lost the right hand engine. Later, when approaching the information desk at Frankfurt, the passenger was told it had been a bird strike.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Frankfurt on Oct 19th 2023.
