An Aeroflot Airbus A320-200, registration VP-BWF performing flight SU-2404 from Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia) to Rome Fiumicino (Italy), was on approach to Rome's runway 16R when the aircraft suffered a static discharge. The crew continued for a safe landing on runway 16R at 21:49L (20:49Z).

Rosaviatsia reported the aircraft was damaged, a number of rivets were missing from the nose radome and fuselage underneath the weather radar.

The incident aircraft remained on the ground for 23 hours before returning to Russia.
