A Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N174DZ performing flight DL-75 from Milan Malpensa (Italy) to Atlanta,GA (USA), was enroute about 380nm northnorthwest of Goose Bay,NL (Canada) just south of the mouth of the Hudson Strait when received a low oil quantity indication for the APU, which subsequently failed. The crew reported they had just one generator left and decided to divert to Goose Bay where the aircraft landed safely about one hour later.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft had been dispatched under minimum equipment list requirements with the left hand generator inoperative. Maintenance determined that an APU oil tank cap was leaking. The cap was replaced, the APU cleaned, serviced and tested before the aircraft was released to continue the flight.

The aircraft departed Goose Bay after 2 hours on the ground and reached Atlanta with a delay of 4 hours.

The Canadian TSB reported the number 1 generator was repaired after arrival in Atlanta.
