A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N721TW performing flight DL-779 from New York JFK,NY to San Francisco,CA (USA), was enroute at FL360 about 250nm southeast of Minneapolis,MN (USA) when the crew donned their oxyge masks and initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure levelling off at 10,000 feet about 7 minutes after leaving FL360 (average rate of descent 3700fpm). The crew subsequently diverted the aircraft to Minneapolis where the aircraft landed on runway 12R about one hour after leaving FL360.

A passenger reported the crew announced there had been a loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks however were not released.

A replacement Airbus A321-200N registration N536DN reached San Francisco with a delay of about 9.5 hours.
