A West Atlantic Boeing 737-300, registration G-JMCL performing flight NPT-28P from Isle of Man (UK) to East Midlands,EN (UK), was climbing out of Isle of Man's runway 08 when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet due to hydraulic failure resulting in the loss of nose wheel steering and degraded braking. The aircraft landed back on runway 08 at 20:48L (19:48Z) about 30 minutes after departure, but spilt significant quantities of hydraulic fluid onto the runway disabling the aircraft on the runway and therefore forcing the closure of the runway over night.

According to information The Aviation Herald received UK's AAIB is looking into the occurrence.

The airport was able to re-open the following morning after the spilled fluid had been removed from the runway.
