A Jetblue Airbus A320-200, registration N712JB performing flight B6-831 from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Santiago (Dominican Republic) with 139 people on board, departed JFK's runway 04L when the crew reported they had a pretty hard bird strike at the nose at about 300 feet AGL. The crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet and decided to return to JFK for a safe overweight landing on runway 04L about 20 minutes after departure.

The aircraft was able to depart again after about 2 hours on the ground and is estimated to reach Santiago with a delay of 2.5 hours.
