A Malta Air Boeing 737-800 on behalf of Ryanair, registration 9H-QEU performing flight FR-7540 from Milan Malpensa (Italy) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was climbing out of Malpensa's runway 35L when the crew stopped the climb at FL190 after air traffic control informed the crew that tyre debris had been found on the departure runway. The aircraft returned to Malpensa for a safe landing on runway 35L about 40 minutes after departure.

A post flight inspection revealed one of the nose gear tyres had been damaged.

The passengers were rebooked onto the next flight FR-7551.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 23 hours after landing back.
