Passengers reported the airline told them a replacement aircraft would arrive on May 5th in the afternoon, more than 24 hours after the landing in Dublin, many passengers therefore booked other flights from Dublin to Tel Aviv via other airports. A few passengers were rebooked onto the direct El Al Flights departing Dublin for Tel Aviv in the afternoon of May 4th.
A replacement Boeing 787-9 registration N24974 positioned to Dublin on May 5th 2023, continued the flight as UA-3046 departing Dublin about 24 hours after UA-72 landed and reached Tel Aviv with a delay of about 24 hours.
The occurrence aircraft positioned back to Washington Dulles on May 8th.
