A United Boeing 767-300, registration N651UA performing flight UA-128 (dep Dec 18th) from Rio de Janeiro Galeao,RJ (Brazil) to Houston Intercontinental,TX (USA) with 193 passengers and 10 crew, was enroute near Cancun when the aircraft encountered turbulence. The aircraft performed a step climb from FL360 to FL380 at about that time. The aircraft continued to Houston where it landed without further incident about 10:10 hours after departure.

The airline reported medical services awaited the aircraft, two passengers and three crew were taken to a hospital with minor injuries but are expected to turn out okay. The aircraft encountered unexpected turbulence enroute.

The FAA reported the aircraft encountered turbulence as it was flying near Cancun (Mexico). The FAA opened an investigation.

In the afternoon of Dec 20th 2022 the FAA reported 4 cabin crew and 15 passengers received minor injuries when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence.
