An Iberia Airbus A330-200, registration EC-MLP performing flight IB-6012 from Montevideo (Uruguay) to Madrid,SP (Spain), was enroute at FL350 about 180nm northnortheast of Montevideo when the crew descended the aircraft to FL250 due to a problem with the cabin pressurization. Descending through FL290 the crew decided to turn aorund and return to Montevideo, descended further to FL150 at first, then to FL120 and landed safely on Montevideo's runway 24 about 2 hours after leaving FL350.

Uruguay's CIAIAC rated the occurrence an incident and opened an investigation.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Montevideo until Dec 5th 2022 before returning to service.
