A Lionair Boeing 737-400, registration PK-LII performing flight LJT-718 from Jakarta to Pontianak (Indonesia) with 152 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Pontianak's runway 33 at 22:01L (15:01Z) but veered right off the runway about 200 meters short of the runway end (length 2250 meters/7380 feet) and came to a stop with the right main gear on soft ground. No injuries occurred. The passengers disembarked onto the runway via the aft left door and mobile stairs.

Indonesia's Ministry of Transport reported the aircraft veered right off runway 33 about 200 meters before the runway end and came to a stop on the grass with one main gear still blocking the runway. The aircraft was evacuated (editorial note: the word evacuate is probably to be taken as passengers disembarked via stairs as evident by pictorial evidence). The airport was closed for about 3 hours until the aircraft was moved off the runway. Indonesia's NTSC are investigating.

This runway excursion marks the 4th known runway excursion at Pontianak in 2012 alone, also see Incident: Lion B734 at Pontianak on Nov 1st 2012, overran runway on landing, Incident: Sriwijaya B734 at Pontianak on Oct 19th 2012, overran runway on landing and Accident: Sriwijaya B734 at Pontianak on Jun 1st 2012, runway excursion.
