An Aeronaves TSM Swearingen SA-227 Metro III, registration XA-UMW performing freight flight VTM-717 from Saltillo (Mexico) to Laredo,TX (USA) with 2 crew, departed Saltillo's runway 35 reaching about 800 feet AGL when the crew needed to initiate a forced landing in an open field north of the airport due to problems and vibrations with the right hand engine (TPE331) and loss of power. The aircraft touched down about 4500 meters/15,000 feet/2.4nm north of the runway end. The crew was taken to a hospital as a precaution but was released without injuries. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.

The crew reported there were problems with the right hand engine, it no longer responded and it began to vibrate.

Authorities report the aircraft was airborne for about 3 minutes, both occupants escaped the forced landing without injuries.
