A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DCX performing flight FR-7712 from Dusseldorf Weeze (Germany) to Fez (Morocco), was climbing out of Weeze's runway 27 when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet due to a problem with one of the engines (CFM56). The aircraft entered a hold for about an hour and returned to Weeze for a safe landing on runway 27 about 65 minutes after departure.

A resident described the aircraft as pretty loud and "brummy" (droning) as it went over the home.

The airline reported the aircraft received a "minor birdstrike".

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration 9H-QED reached Fez with a delay of about 3.5 hours.
