A LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 787-8, registration SP-LRG performing flight LO-6505 from Warsaw (Poland) to Cancun (Mexico), was climbing out of Warsaw's runway 29 when the crew requested to level off at FL080 to troubleshoot a problem. ATC subsequently asked whether the crew would be able to climb to FL140, the crew affirmed and climbed the aircraft to FL140 in the following reporting they had a problem with the slats and needed to return. The aircraft dumped fuel and returned to Warsaw for a safe landing on runway 33 about 70 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 787-8 registration SP-LRB is estimated to reach Cancun with a delay of about 4 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 8 hours, then returned to service.
